Today Jaffa's renovated alley-ways attract many artists, who have their galleries there. We will then drive to the "White City" of Tel Aviv, recognized by UNESCO as "World Heritage Site" because of its unique "BAUHAUS"-Architecture. Here we step off the bus and walk through the colorful (and noisy…) carmel-market, and through the European-style Nachlat Binyamin Pedestrian Zone, were local artists present their tidbits, street-musicians play, and people enjoy their first day of the weekend in one of the stylish coffee-shops… We would recommend lunch (not included) in one of the small local restaurants at the Yemenite "Kerem" quarter, were you can have some home-cooked Kosher Yemenite food, just like in old times… Then we drive to Beth Guvrin, where we can crawl through a variety of man-made caves, cut for different purposes by the ancient dwellers of the city Maresha. Friday night is the time to enjoy the pulsating night-life of "The City that never stops…" Overnight in Tel Aviv.
day 3:
Today we ascend to The Holy City – Jerusalem! We start at the Jaffa-Gate, Jerusalem's Citadel. Inside the citadel, also known as "David's Tower", we will visit an audio-visual exhibition, which shows us step-by-step Jerusalem's rich 4000-year-old history. Then we start to walk on Jerusalem's Old City Walls, listening to its stories, and looking at the different neighborhoods of Jerusalem from above. The Ramparts Walk ends at the Damascus Gate, the center of the Arab "Suq" (Bazar). We stroll through the oriental market, absorbing the different colors, noises and smells. Passing by some of the stations of the "via Dolorosa", we enter the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built in the 4th Century and housing a variety of Orthodox and Catholic Chapels. From here we drive to the New City. At the Israel museum we will see the 1:50 Model of the City of Jerusalem, as it was during the time of the second Temple (the time of Jesus). The model is made from the original materials, and is constantly amended, according to the most recent archaeological findings. We will also visit the specially-designed "Shrine of the Book" housing the original "Dead Sea Scrolls". Time permitting; we will visit the "Menorah" (Candelabra) outside the Knesset-building, housing Israel's parliament. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 4:
Arriving at the Mt. of Olives, we leave the bus and step into special 4x4 self-drive RANGER vehicles that take us off-the-beaten-track to some unique observation points that give us a better perspective and understanding of the history of Ancient Jerusalem. Then we visit the recent archaeological excavations at the "City of David", Jerusalem of the Canaanites and the kings of the House of David. We will go through the tunnels of its sophisticated water-system until we reach the Siloam-pool. Then we visit the "Western Wall" – the last remnant of the Jewish Temple, were you usually can see Jews from all over the world, dressed in their traditional clothing, putting their most intimate wishes on notes between the historical stones of the Wall. We will spend the rest of the afternoon discovering some of the Characteristic neighborhoods built in the 19th Century outside the city walls, such as Nachalat Shiv'a, Mea Shearim, were the strict religious Jews live, and the Machane Yehuda Market. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 5:
We drive down to Wadi Qelt in the Judean desert, where we will hike to the Oasis Ein Qelt and the St. George Monastery, built hanging on a cliff over the deep Canyon of Wadi Qelt. In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to float on the mineral-rich Dead Sea, famous for its healing qualities. Overnight by the Dead Sea.
day 6:
We walk through the Oasis of Ein Gedi, known since the days of King David. Ein Gedi, where four springs with fresh water meet the desert sun, is a place to enjoy the rich and unique flora and fauna that such an oasis can offer. We walk to the waterfall and back to the bus. We climb the famous cliff-fortress of Masada, where Herod the Great built a magnificent palace in the middle of the desert. Masada was then used as a fortress by the Jewish "Zealots" who fought, few against many, against the pagan Roman Empire. Their heroic struggle became a symbol for the modern State of Israel. After descending Masada on the original Roman Ramp, our bus will take us to a "Bedouin Experience" at Kefar Hanokdim. There we will ride on camels, and celebrate the end of the tour with a traditional Bedouin "Hafla" Dinner, experiencing the ancient tradition of the Bedouin Hospitality. Then we will sit by the campfire under the stars, until… until… Overnight Kefar Hanokdim.
Day 7:
